Mission, vision and strategy

Mission (what we stand for)
We aim to set up a network of businesses focusing on the exchange of experience and the accumulation of knowledge on sustainable waste management.
We consider effective and sustainable waste management a crucial part of the different environmental challenges that our society faces today.

Vision (what we aim to achieve and how we aim to accomplish our mission)
BvDA facilitates the exchange of experience and the accumulation of knowledge among businesses that focus on sustainable waste management.
Our focal point is the sector of specialized waste management businesses working with state-of-the-art scientific information and technology. In a circular economy, the link between waste and materials is becoming increasingly important.
BvDA also attracts other specialized members such as consultants, laboratories, lawyer firms, etc., because of their added value within the waste and materials value chain.
BvDA organizes network meetings for managers of the member firms.
This includes both informal gatherings (peer2peer or with guest speakers) as business visits and study trips. Generally, BvDA is a key contact point for information and knowledge on waste management in Flanders, from a network perspective.

Strategy (our specific medium-term goals)
accomplish our mission and vision, the following strategic goals are crucial to us:

  • Optimization of the "format" of networking and the method to organize exchanges of experience and accumulation of knowledge among the members. This should result in an increased member satisfaction (presence, involvement, exchange of knowledge ...)
  • Creation of (scientific) added value during events aiming to spread information to members and relevant actors. This should result in increased member satisfaction and visibility with relevant actors (spontaneous feedback and cooperation of members, and increased brand visibility).

Values
BvDA emphasizes the following key values while realizing our mission:

  • Collegiality: collegiality requires an open attitude of our members and the willingness to exchange experiences and knowledge with each other, aiming to create shared and added value;
  • Professionalism: a fast-changing social context requires extra attention for flexibility with businesses, for lifelong learning with employees, and for corporate social and environmental responsibility and ethics;
  • Sustainability: the positive and environment-friendly functioning of the organization should be ensured within individual companies (reaching beyond the members of the organization) and over time.

BvDA pays attention to any required legal aspects during the formation of the network. Specifically, environmental and social legislation is strictly respected. Additionally, special attention is given to legislation on cartel formation. By subscribing to the organizational bylaws, the members fully engage to respect the law, and to avoid any cartel formation within BvDA.
